Question for Unopposed Candidates:

Please give voters a brief statement that includes a history of your accomplishments in office and your vision for the future including upcoming or ongoing issues, challenges, or projects.

When the State needed extra processing capabilities for drivers’ licenses, our office offered to make our services available to our citizens for more convenience. We have been doing Kansas renewals and ID cards since 1997. A few years ago I worked with the legislature to eliminate the fee for disabled placards. The most recent accomplishment was to remove the $.50 mail fee on each vehicle for mailed renewals. Without this additional fee more people can do their registrations by mail and avoid standing in lines in our office at the end of the month.

This year we activated a website where abstractors, realtors, banks or private citizens can use the internet to check tax amounts and the payment status. This file is updated on a daily basis and has been a great benefit to many. The site is: http://atsearch.rileycountyks.gov/tax/. Citizens can also pay their taxes and vehicle registrations from the County Website: www.rileycountyks.gov. With either of these website taxpayers are able to pay by credit card or e-check. To assist the military in getting their vehicles registered, we have developed a checklist of the items that we need to see for the military exemption.

I hope to continue providing all Riley Countians with friendly, courteous and professional service. In our office we stress customer service as our top priority. We are always looking for more ways to provide better customer service to all our constituents and eliminate the typical government bureaucracy. I also want to continue searching for ways that technology can help our office assist our customers. By using technology, we can serve the citizens more efficiently and effectively. The State is in the process of developing a new vehicle registration and driver’s license program for the State of Kansas. I will be actively involved to assure that the end product will benefit the State of Kansas, all County Treasurer’s offices and most importantly, the citizens of the State of Kansas.

I have enjoyed serving the people for Riley County for the past 24 years and I look forward to 4 more years.
